[url=https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2836172577]https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2836172577[/url] Mantodean Simple Weapons: Adds simple weapons for mantodeans and research to unlock them. Also adds a new backstory for adult mantodeans, The Mantodean Crafter, and a new Mutagen, Maroon Mutagen. This mod is meant to be played with the Mantodean Race and the Mantodean Egglayer mods. Some of these weapons are grown from Mantodean Jelly, Organic components and sometimes metal, while others require earlier Mantodean weapons to craft, evolving them into the new weapon. The goal of this mod was to give mantodeans their own flavor with their weapons as it always bugged me (Heh get it? Bugged? No? Nevermind.) that I would have to use a regular wooden weapon. This was done mostly as a personal thing but I thought I'd share it with everyone. I added a re-textured Mantodean Acid Launcher, made originally by Sig, to match. The Mantodean Breaker texture was made using the Rimsenal throwing clubs as a base for the outline. The Mantodean Spine Thrower and Heavy Spine thrower was made using the Crossbow and Heavy Crossbow from Vanilla Expanded project as a base for the outline. I will gladly remove any of these textures at the requests of the original mod authors. Whats Included? [b]This mod adds 8 Weapons, 6 ranged and 2 melee:[/b] The Stinger is a symbiotic weapon that grows stingers in the arm like protrusions. Muscles and chemical reactions allow it to fire these stingers which start in a very malleable state but as it leaves the weapons mouth it is both shaped and hardened. The Spined Stinger and the Longsting are mutations of a regular Stinger that shoot farther or faster. Both are stronger than a regular Stinger. The Barb is a similar weapon to the Pila, a symbiotic creature attaches to the host around the small of the back and grows barbs over time. These barbs are very strong but are unwieldy and take time to aim. Often used to hunt larger prey animals. The Breaker is a symbiotic weapon that during its growth creates a dense metal ball at the head. It can override its hosts nervous system allowing them to strike extremely fast and with much more force than normal. This allows the user to break down walls and doors with ease. Mantodeans mutate these weapons to create the Crusher, a response to the Mechanoid assaults upon a hive that can smash the metal machines into pieces. The Spine Thrower is a symbiotic weapon related to the Stingers but more advanced. They fire slower but are on the whole considerably stronger than the Stingers. They work on a similar principle to the Stingers growing their spines within the main body and using both muscles in the arms and chemicals to fire their spines at high speed. Their ability to pierce armor makes them useful against stronger prey items. The Heavy Spine Thrower is a mutation of the regular Spine Thrower with considerably stronger impact. Its spines take a lot of energy and effort to fire so it takes time for the arms to recover before they can fire again. [b]The Mantodean Crafter adult Backstory:[/b] The Mantodean Crafter adds what seemed to be a missing skill stat to me among mantodeans. The Artistic skill. I don't think that Mantodeans are meant to be super artistic though so while I did give this backstory a bonus its not much. I also thought this would be a good backstory to add as its within the theme of this mod as Crafters are responsible for building Mantodean weapons. Mantodean Crafter [PAWN] has always shown a capability with thinking outside the box. While in the hive structure of Mantodean society this would normally be a dentriment [PAWN] has proven themselves capable at crafting the hives weapons and erecting the artistic stuctures that most Mantodeans just cannot wrap their minds around. +3 Construction +8 Crafting +5 Artistic +Chance to spawn with Industrious. [b]Maroon Mutagen:[/b] Maroon Mutagen is very much like the Red Mutagen (Thus the similar color) however instead of piercing slashing damage this arm mutation deals blunt damage. This should make it more effective towards late game enemies in heavier armors as well as both Mechanoids and Insect Infestations. [b]Chemjelly:[/b] (It will be added as a resource for future weapons in this mod.) Chemfuel and Mantodean Jelly mixed together. Used to better integrate chemfuel into mantodean weapons, items and buildings. Contains a considerable amount of chemical energy more than sufficient to use as a fuel source. Mantodeans produce this material in response to advanced societies of their prey using chemfuel to power weapons and explosives used against the hive. [b]Mantodean Component:[/b] (It will be added as a resource for future weapons in this mod.) Biological components of more advanced hives arranged together for easy assimilation into other mantodean weapons, items and buildings. Mantodeans disassemble other races components for rare materials they cannot easily make themselves apply mutagens, mantodean jelly and chemjelly to make these biological components. These components appear to others like pupa, hard shelled living parts in a state of torpor, until integrated into other biological structures. Once within the item, weapon or building they're used in the components mutate within the pupa and then assume the form they need to take within the structure. Plans for the future: [list] [*] Set a patch to make chemjelly useable wherever chemfuel is as a fuel. [*] Tweak starting scenario for Mantodeans to use Mantodean Simple Weapons. [*] Add industrial level weapons for player mantodean. [*] Add spacer level weapons for player mantodean. [*] Add Mantodean grenade types. [*] Tweak the stats of the Mantodean Weapons to give them some nuance and difference to vanilla weapons without making them overpowered or immensely lesser to a vanilla weapon. [*] Tweak the resources requirements to make them more balanced overall. [*] Add the use of meat as the organic component instead of wood to facilitate the Mantodean themes. [*] Add neolithic weapons to the allotment of possibilities for Mantodean Raids. (carefully so they don't make them hard to deal with.) [*] Continued tweaks to the textures until I'm happy with them. [*] Add Combat Extended patch. (might be done as a separate mod due to amount of work.) [/list] Completed Plans for the future: [list] [*] Set Manto weapons to be their own class rather than lumped in with other neolithic weapons. [*] Re-texture the weapons using both the existing mantodean color schemes (for buildings and such) as a base and new skills I've been learning since I made the first Mantodean Stinger. [*] Add more Medieval weapons to the mod to expand them. [*] Add a Mantodean Crafter background for adult Mantodeans to facilitate the theme of this mod and its making of weapons for the Hive. Crafter gets +3 Construction, +8 Crafting and +5 Artistic with a chance to have Industrious trait. [*] Add a new mutagen for an arm type that deals significant blunt damage to better fight against mechanoids. [*] Tweak Mantodean race Def to remove chance for beards. [*] Add mantodean resources for medieval and onward weapons. Chemjelly and Mantodean Component. [/list]
