Using Soybeans from Vanilla Cooking Expanded - Sushi, as well as other elements of the Vanilla Expanded Series, we've created an alternative meat solution, officially recommended by Sarg Bjornson himself! Thank you for the shout out!
By growing soybeans, you're able to make soy milk, tofu, spiced tofu, canned tofu, deep fried tofu, tofu cheese, mapo tofu, and tofu soup! Your colony can run on just soybeans as your sole food source without losing access to many recipes.

After researching Tofu Production, you'll be able to:

[*] Use a stove to turn your Soybeans into Soy Milk or Tofu.
[*] Soy Milk can be turned into Tofu on the Stove or Tofu Cheese in the Cheese Press.
[*] Using Spices from [url=https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=2134308519]Vanilla Cooking Expanded[/url], the condiment Spiced Tofu can be made at the Condiment Prep Table.
[*] Drop some Tofu into the Deep Fryer to make Deep Fried Tofu, a tasty but unhealthy snack.
[*] Combine Tofu with Steel at the Canning Machine to create Canned Tofu, quite gross on its own and far more nourishing mixed into a meal and heated.
[*] The lavish meal Mapo Tofu can be made with meat, tofu, and spiced tofu as the ingredients.
[*] Tofu Soup, also known as tofu stew, is a fine soup or [url=https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2134312965]stew[/url], initial recipes are different (soup vs. stew) but output is the same.
[*] Tofu can be used in most meals as a meat option, but not most meat-based items that aren't a meal.

Q: Is this mod cheaty?
A: Yes and no. We want to remain as vanilla-friendly as possible, while adding the option to expand your protein options with real-world solutions. For balance purposes, tofu is generally not useable outside of meal recipes and takes a decent amount of work to make.
Q: Is this mod complete?
A: We think so. Do let us know if you have an idea, though.
Q: Save game compatible?
A: Safe to add, [b][i]not safe[/i][/b] to remove unless you have no tofu items and no meals made with tofu.
