Boeing B-29 Superfortress
Boeing B-29 Superfortress - 1:1 Scale - Built Historically Precise
The Boeing B-29 Superfortress was one of the most advanced aircraft of World War II and a major leap forward in aviation design. Built for long-range strategic bombing, the B-29 introduced pressurized crew compartments, advanced fire control systems, and the ability to strike targets thousands of miles from base. It is most famously known for its role in the Pacific Theater, including the bombing of Japan near the end of the war.
This build aims to recreate the look, feel, and crew coordination of the real aircraft while keeping systems usable and fun in Stormworks. It is designed to be flown solo if needed, but truly shines with a full crew.

Updates
V 1.1
- Improved the set altitude, and the plane will now react more smoothly. (Try not to push more than 5000+ change in altitude at a time)
V 1.2
- Improved the bombsight significantly. The sight will now correctly adjust depending on altitude, airspeed, and drag. (Altitude above 1000 is most accurate, but below 1000 is still fairly accurate)
- Using the trigger while in the bombardier seat will now drop a payload while the bombsight is being viewed.
- Improved some paintwork around the inside of the fuselage to add more detail.

Startup & Flight
Startup is intentionally simple. Turn the main ignition key and the aircraft is ready to go. This keeps setup quick while still feeling authentic.
Pilot controls:
W / S - Pitch
A / D - Roll
Left / Right - Yaw
The aircraft is stable in cruise, especially when using the built-in autopilot systems.
Crew Stations & Systems
Pilot Seat
- Primary flight controls
- Main flight instruments
- Designed for straightforward handling
Copilot Seat
- Landing gear controls
- Altitude hold
- Roll hold
Engineer Seat
This is where most of the aircraft systems are managed:
- Engine temperature readouts (On video screen)
- Engine shutdown and fire switches
- Engine RPS
- Fuel level indicators (On video screen)
- Main electrical breakers
- Touchscreen video display (fully interactive)
Navigator Seat
- Map displayed on a screen
- Button to travel directly to a waypoint
- Best used with altitude and roll hold enabled

Defensive Armament
The B-29’s remote-controlled turret system is recreated with gameplay practicality in mind.
Important:
All four main battery turrets require infinite ammo to be enabled. This was a deliberate choice to avoid adding large, unrealistic ammo boxes outside the aircraft.
Turret layout:
- Front upper turret – Controlled by the bombardier
- Front lower turret – Controlled by the bombardier
- Lower rear turret – Controlled by the side gunners
- Upper rear turret – Controlled by the barber chair gunner
- Rear tail turret – Controlled by the tail gunner
- Each position is designed to reflect the real crew roles of the B-29.

Bombardier Station
The bombardier is located in the nose of the aircraft and is responsible for:
- Opening and closing the bomb bay doors
- Dropping the payload
- Operating the front lower gun
- This station is essential for combat missions and bombing runs.
- Bombsight will be most accurate when in level flight, zero wind, above 70% throttle, and above 1000 ft (Below 1000 will still be fairly accurate).
Radar Station
The radar operator seat is located in the back of the plane and has these features:
- Increase/Decrease Radar scanning distance
- The radar will ping yellow on the screen when something is found
- The radar is on the bottom of the plane and therefore only allows for detection of objects beneath the aircraft
Entrances
- Front bottom entrance located behind the lower front turret
- Rear bottom entrance located in front of the rear lower turret
- Tail gunner entrance that can be opened by grabbing the handle
- Front bomb bay entrance (rear bomb bay also had one but it's blocked off in this case for simplicity)

Notes & Recommendations
- Best flown with multiple players for full crew experience
- Altitude and roll hold are strongly recommended during navigation and bombing
- Infinite ammo must be enabled for turret functionality
- There is no rotation for the nose wheel since adding a pivot causes the stability of the plane to break (Thank the Stormworks physics...)
