SRFB 220 Class 2-8-2T | 229

- Silver Rail Freight Board - 220 Class 2-8-2T After the formation of the SRFB in 1921, plans were drawn up to standardise the fleet of mostly freight locomotives to deal with the increasing freight traffic. The '220' Class was designed for shorter trips to handle the back-and-forth coal and container trains along the railway's western territory. Numerous "Hoppers", as they were nicknamed, were in service throughout the interwar period but were used to great extent during WW2 due to their mechanical reliability. Despite the fact that their higher water consumption restricted them to shorter lines, the SRFB kept the 220s in service until 1947, where it had begun to sell some off to private industrial estates. A few of these locos remain preserved across the Sawyer Isles and this build represents SRFB 229 in her last years in service under the Donkk Mining Company.
