The DeTwitt Winton is based off the early american steam locomotive "DeWitt Clinton" So named after the then former govenor of new york, famous for having championed the building of the Eerie canal, a competator for the railroad she was built for.
Built in 1831 for the Mohawk and Hudson Railroad (M&H) Her first run was from Albany, New york to Schenectady, New York, a run of around 16/17 miles completeing the jorney in 38 minutes much to the astonishment of its passengers. The locomotives life was not a long one, as two years after her construction she was scrapped in 1833.
In 1893, 60 years after her scrapping, a working replica of the DeWitt Clinton and her coaches where built by the New york central for the 1893 columbian exposition in chigago. After which it was used on and off again for promotional purposes until being purchased in 1934 by Henry Ford for his museum in Dearborn, Michigan where it still resides to this day.
Disclaimer!
This locomotive is not 100% accurate to the historical original and is more a fun little one off. She's also not fully steam powered due to stormworks standard boilers being too big to fit within her slender body.
(What I'm saying is shes a tender driven battery loco with an infinite generator that can produce smoke lmao)
