The task of designing and manufacturing the new capital buses was finally given to the Heavy Industry Center, established in the summer of 1947, which brought together the country's major vehicle manufacturers. The first 2 prototypes were completed within a few months, and the first 5 new buses were handed over in front of the Parliament a few weeks later, on January 30, 1948. MÁVAG was the largest bus supplier to the BSZKRT (Budapest Metropolitan Transportation Company.) before the war. The predecessor of the Tr5 bus was the Tr4 type introduced in 1940, which was based on its medium-sized trambuses. The new buses, now released with the new "Tr5" type designation, were built on a MÁVAG chassis and were powered by a 105-horsepower Láng diesel engine. The M5 type's vehicle body (9540 mm), which is only 20 mm shorter than the Tr5, can also be considered a long-distance version of the Tr5, but with significantly different elements, The last known Mávag M5 was scrapped in 2006. This particular bus's history (with the license plate of "GA 03-74"), it was manufactured in 1950, then it was transfered to other cities in 1953/1954 and 1958 while being transfered within a city and renumbered in 1958, the vehicle was decommisioned in April 1963.
