|SS BEN LOMOND| 1872| SINKABLE
The Ben Lomond was one of the lesser known running-mates to the TSS Earnslaw.
She was originally built as the Jane Williams in 1872, before being renamed to Ben Lomond, after the adjacent mountain.
She was purchased by the Crown in 1902 and then painted in her railways livery.
Her original boiler was replaced in 1933, and she was finally laid up in 1951
In October 1952 all salvageable parts were removed and she was towed out to Kingston Bay, and was scuttled in about 180 metres of water.
Infinite electric required, she will sink in rough enough weather
