100 Class 0-4-0 Vertical Boiler
The GSIR had constructed the 100 Class mainly for yard shunting across the Sawyer Isles, with a few being stationed at the South Sawyer Yard to manage the boom in goods traffic during the 1910s. While the vertical boiler shunters had performed reasonably well, their design was already outdated by the interwar period and outmatched by the shunters constructed by the SRFB. The growing density of freight traffic along the network also showed their weakness compared to more modern counterparts, especially the diesel shunters that they had begun to brush shoulders with in the post-war era. Only a couple 100s remained in service by the 1950s, working around the Camodo Locomotive Works and quarries. Thankfully, all the 100s that survived after WW2 were preserved, most notably SRFB 101 in 1951. This build represents the first-of-class in her maroon livery she wore during the SRFB's 1921 Gathering Gala.
