It was supposed to be the greatest heist in the galaxy. The rich old noble wouldn't know what hit him.
That's what the thieves thought, but that was before said rich old noble tracked them to a remote system and their little ship was no match with his private carrier.
Five of their crew escaped to the planet below. They could have saved more, but they needed space for the loot.

A group of thieves heard that a noble had obtained a collection of massive "jewels" and they couldn't resist trying to take them for themselves. It turned out that none of them had any idea what they'd actually taken.
This scenario was something I made as an excuse to have a lot of dragons in my colony. It's not really supposed to be balanced long term. The only real challenge is surviving the first 40 or so days with such a stupid high starting colony value and no friendly factions. (Unless you manage to sell off the eggs instead of waiting for them to hatch, of course.) Besides, taking on the empire with an army of dragons sounds like a blast to me. I upgraded the starting weapons in order to compensate a little for that starting value, and added a little more food to compensate for starting with more people. Apart from that, it's basically just a crashlanded start.
