They used the passenger ship blueprint and added 2 more lifeboats, then 2 more in 1937 In 1939 the boat was finished and was named Hellbound in 1940. In 1940 it was used to transport trapped troops in the Benelux region. It was also used to transport norwegain troops. But the boat had a deadly flaw. In dec 25 of 1942 the HellBound was on route to Finland and went in German waters. Around 5:40 am Gerp Kalfon (1922-2018) was with his friend talking in the Lounge area when he saw a torpedo stream. Then a explosion. Gerp and his friend went to the lifeboats when hell broke lose. Everyone was running around and some people were still trapped in the belly of the boat. Gerp and his friend went to a Lifeboat close to the number one funnnel. Then a breaking sound and the funnel dissapeared. Gerp got pushed in the Lifeboat by a gush of steam. When Gerp looked back, there was a big hole where funnel 1 and the other lifeboat was. Gerp then blacked out. when He woke up he got the news that 65 people died including his friend. The flaw was that the deck wasnt made for 4 more lifeboat's. So after the years the deck was slowly cracking more and More till it broke bringing funnel 1 with it When the funnel collapsed it instantly killed 20 people and trapped 40 more whom died. Gerp's friend died due to the Scallding steam. In 1947 Jasmin Lock was arrested and was put in jail for 35 years, she later died in 1975. property of G&M PRODUCTIONS
