yc's Faction Editor makes all this possible and easy to change!
This mod allows you to deeply customize the gear, generation logic of any faction and any pawn kind in real-time within the game, and save it.


✨ Features

🎯 Pawn Kind & Gear Editing

  • Precise Control: Not just for factions, you can precisely control down to the specific pawn kind.
  • Group Control: Caravan groups, combat groups, settlement groups... Edit the spawned pawns and gear as you wish, even add mechanoid bosses and animals? Try it in the group settings.
  • Tons of Options: Edit gear, modify trade inventory, elite raid compression, xenotype probability, health status, traits, genes, appearance, and more deeply customizable options.
  • Real-time Preview: No need for dev commands to check modified spawn groups, preview with one click.

⚔️ Item Customization

  • Forced Gear: Specify weapons that a pawn kind must carry.
  • Material & Quality: Set weapon material (e.g., plasteel, uranium) and quality (e.g., excellent, legendary).
  • Biocoding: Set the probability of weapons being biocoded, preventing easy looting by players.

⚔️ Full Faction Customization

  • Create New Faction: Build a new faction based on existing templates, with support for manually adding settlements on the map.
  • Modify Faction: Name, description, icon, goodwill, ideoligion, xenotype, etc.
  • Save Faction: After saving, new saves can directly load it just like exported pawn saves from character editors.

🛠️ Powerful In-Game Editor

  • Easy to Use: All operations are done in-game through a modern enhanced UI.
  • Advanced Filtering: Filter items by mod source (e.g., show only "Vanilla Expanded" series gear), with filters like tech level, damage value, to quickly pinpoint target equipment.
  • Preset Management & Sharing: Save your configuration as a preset, support exporting to share with friends, or seamlessly migrate between different saves. (Possible bugs, testing in progress)
  • Copy & Paste: Copy configurations between different pawn kinds for rapid batch application.

This mod is inspired by the classic Total Control.


📖 How to Use

  • Find the editor button for yc's Faction Editor.
  • Select the faction you want to modify on the left.
  • Choose a specific pawn kind from the middle list.
  • Configure that pawn kind's weapons, apparel or health status in the right panel.
  • Click save, and the configuration takes effect immediately (for newly spawned units).

⚠️ FAQ

Q: Is it compatible with CE?
A: Fully compatible. You can even replace gear for factions that have incompatible CE equipment to achieve CE compatibility.

Q: Does it support mod factions?
A: Theoretically, yes.

Q: Can I add new pawn kind types to a faction?
A: Due to some code limitations, directly adding new pawn kind Defs is not safe. However, you can achieve a similar effect: Go to "Faction Editor → Faction Groups", select a group (e.g., "Combat Team #1"), and add non-faction characters / mechanoids / animals. Raids will spawn from the pawn pool you set here.

Q: Will this affect already existing units?
A: No. Changes only affect

newly spawned

units (e.g., new raids, aids, or caravans).

Q: Can I add it mid-save?
A: No problem.

Q: Is it compatible with Simple Sidearms?
A: Yes. And NPCs can Auto-Switch Weapon by Distance.

Q: What happens if I uninstall the mod?
A: It's safe.

- Add: Auto-Switch Weapon by Distance — when Simple Sidearms is detected, pawns automatically switch between primary and sidearm based on target distance.
