Virgin Class 43 HST Foreward Powercar
~~BACKROUND~~
When the Virgin Trains East Coast franchise took over the InterCity East Coast rail services in March 2015, it inherited a fleet of InterCity 125 (HST) sets made up of Class 43 power cars and Mark 3 coaches from the previous operator. These classic high-speed diesel trains continued to work long-distance services on the East Coast Main Line out of London King’s Cross to cities including Edinburgh, Leeds and Hull, now repainted in the striking red and white Virgin livery and refreshed inside for passengers.
VTEC refurbished all its HST sets by August 2016, updating interiors and branding as an interim measure while planning to replace them with newer trains under the UK government’s Intercity Express Programme. Although the franchise ended early in June 2018, the HSTs remained iconic symbols of high-speed diesel travel on the East Coast during the company’s tenure.
~~INSTRUCTIONS~~
Try to always operate with two powercars, as that is what it is designed for.
Go into both cabs, and press "Diesel Engine" and "Train Supply" to turn the engine on and provide power to the coaches.
After, set the reverser to forward and ensure the brakes are off. You can then pull back the throttle and accelerate!
~~REALISTIC FORMATIONS~~
There is one main formation for this train:
2x Class 43s + 2x Mk3 TFO + 1x Mk3 TFRB + 5x Mk3 TSO's + 1x Mk3 TGS
However I would highly recommend removing a TSO and a TFO due to Stormworks optomisation and speed limitations
The top speed of these powercars without coaches is 225mph.
