This is a replica of the ramming boat i used in stormworks in 2020 until I got a new computer the next year which was when the original was lost.
thanks to a friend re-locating the original tortoise boat, i was able to make a replica of the ram boat which you see here. the grey one is its modern replacement.
To Crossong, I apologize in advance of the chaos that will likely ensue because of this boat returning to the game.
Now for the (totally real) history of the ram boat:
its story starts with Crossong who built a fast, highly maneuverable speed boat out of glass. with a catamaran hull, twin diesel engines (plus one jet engine) the boat was fast turning, nimble, and according to some, could even fly. it was called, ironically enough, the Tortoise 3.3.
Naturally though, with such a fast boat came great potential for chaos...
Enter, me.
I first found the boat shortly after stormworks released (2019/mid 2020) and began using it as a way to reek havoc on ships in game regardless of type or size, they all eventually sank but so too did the tortoise, thus the idea for the first ram boat was born.
Taking the existing model, I first gutted all the flight equipment (fins, jet, landing gear, and jet controls) and left just the marine propulsion plant. I next added new side doors, lights, flares, a top hatch, bilge pumps, misc equipment, and the most important albeit iconic (or infamous) feature: I large triangle-shaped ship ram mounted to the end of a support bean on the front of the ram boat. After numerous tests and tweaking, i decided the boat was ready to reek havoc and boy did it.
the original boat was ultimately used regularly up until the weapons DLC released in 2021, I still had the boat but used it less and less and the warship Charleston became the mainstay and weapon of choice. Finally the original model was lost in 2022 when getting the game on a new (2nd hand) PC. However, its legacy is immortalized in numerous videos and live streams on my YouTube channel.
The Ramming Replica.
Fast forward to summer of 2025, Me and some friend are playing stormworks and recall the old ramming boat, due to being curious, my friend managed to not only find Crossongs page but also, to my surprise, the original Tortoise 3.3 model which was still available. Right then we all knew what had to be done.
I got the model and have since built this replica of the ramming boat, its not at all accurate but the fact I could rebuilt it at all through memory (and video reference) alone is impressive enough and it even spawned a completely new / slightly re-imagined build of the boat: the Iron Ram.
Iron ram is a slight upgrade to the original boat, mainly with its engine plant which has been completely replaced with newer, most powerful diesel engines. which can propel the boat at 94 knots. Presently, there are talks of replacing even this propulsion plant with jet engines.
in the meantime however, I have decided to post both this replica and the iron ram to my page so all of you can cause your own madness and chaos so please have fun and feel free to go nut with and improve upon the terror that is:
