Dreamer's Dreams
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.
~ H.P. Lovecraft Every night we voyage to unknown places. Flying, laughing, running away, loving and fighting. Those memories stay with us, shape us, although we don’t remember even a fraction of them. Why would we want to deny these pleasures from our colonists? Thanks to this mod, your pawns gain the ability to have nightdreams. Dreams aim to reflect the pawn’s situation and personality as chosen by our framework’s clever algorithm. Stories carried by dreams are hand-crafted by a professional writer. But stories are not the only feature of this mod. Dreams usually have a short-term effect on the pawns, but some leave long-lasting consequences. This adds a particular element of instability to your colony, as dreams can keep your colonists sane... or push them even further into madness.
Amount of Dreams: 100

Overview
- The next time your pawn falls asleep, they will get a dream thought as seen in the Needs tab. - Dreams have different qualities and requirements, depending on dozens of different factors. For example, there are dreams for cannibals, prisoners, widowed pawns, that one animal-eared humanoid race, and exceedingly ecstatic pawns. - Dream changes and other features can be customised in the mod settings. - Sleepwalk mechanic allows pawns to get up at night to do… well, you will see. Think twice before you allow a psychopathic cannibalistic sleepwalker into your colony... Check our GitHub for a complete list of current and planned features!
Balance
Our definition of chaos might not be the same as yours. That is why this mod ships with extensive mod settings that allow great customisation. It simply adds another element to consider when accommodating your pawns’ needs. Feel free to fine-tune dream chances to suit your playstyle.
Compatibility
This mod can be added to existing saves without problems, but removing it might cause some issues (which are fixable most of the time). We are not currently aware of any hard incompatibilities with other mods. It is compatible with most race mods. If some issues pop up, let us know, and we will try to patch them as soon as possible.
Inspiration
The main inspiration for this mod are H.P. Lovecraft’s dreamland stories: The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath, The Cats of Ulthar, and Celephaïs, among others.
I want to contribute!
Click here to submit a dream As this mod is in active development, we always look for testers. Simply using this mod and submitting an issue or two will ensure our eternal gratitude. That’s where all the action happens. You can also make a separate mod that adds your custom dreams and dream requirements to the game. A guide on how to do this will follow soon. If you submit a dream idea at the link above, on the Steam Workshop, or as a GitHub Issue, you allow us to edit this dream and feature it fully or in parts in this mod, credited to your name.
Join our Discord!
I have made the Discord server available here. Some of you have genuinely great, disturbed minds. Have fun with our mod and happy dreaming…
Wise men have interpreted dreams, and the gods have laughed.
~ H.P. Lovecraft
