This mod adds two new genetically engineering creatures to the game, the Neutrolope, and Neutrorat. Like the Boomalope, the Neutrolope grows a chemical-filled sac on it's back, but in this case it is meant for drug production, rather than a fuel source. Like the Boomrat, the Neutrorat appears to be useless...or is it?
Given the neutroamine requirements of my Synthetic Polymers mod, I figured that an alternative source of the chemical would help to alleviate the new demand. Thus, the neutrolope was genetically engineered for the purpose. Naturally, like the chemfueled boomalope that preceeded it, the lab testing was performed on rats first.
In addition to adding these two animals, the mod includes support for A Dog Said since I use that mod, and I took the liberty of adjusting the scale of the vanilla boomrat to appropriate proportions*.
That said, I present Neutro Animals.
Now, I am aware that there a couple other mods already in the Workshop that add a neutrolope, but I made my own for balance, and visual purposes. Like the vanilla booma-mals, my neutro-mals will lose their fuel sacs when dead, for example. My mod was created using the vanilla versions as guide, and the result is a slightly smaller subspecies with a unique trait, rather than a different creature. That said:
-Neutromal are smaller, and rarer than the boomamals.
-They have a shorter life expectancy.
-They have a longer gestation period.
-And are generally more annoying to breed.
-They are slightly more valuable.
-Unlike their kin, the Wild Neutromals prefer colder climates**
-They can still be bought and sold through the associated trader caravans
-Neutrorats are smarter than boomrats - take from that information what you will
*Iunno if they intentionally increased the size at some point, but I am pretty sure they were smaller in 1.2. What I do know is, the quality is much better at the reduced scale than the default
**Boomalopes can be found in arid shrub-land, temperate forests, temperate swamps, tropical rainforests, tropical swamps, and deserts. Boomrats can only be found in the first three biomes. Meanwhile, neutro-mals can be found in boreal forests, cold bogs, tundra, the ice sheet, and sea ice.
