FV Kvinde Af Gud 1935 (Sinkable)

DANISH FISHING SHIP "Kvinde Af Gud" LORE Built in 1935 by the Williams & Oscar shipbuilders of Ringkøbing for the August & Alma Fishing Co. of Grenaa, the Kvinde Af Gud, which, if I am correct, translates to "Woman of God," was a wooden-hulled fishing ship with a length of 52 Feet (15.75 Meters), a beam of 15 Feet (4.75 Meters), and a height of 33 Feet (10.25 Meters). The ship was originally operated out of Grenaa and fished in the Kattegat Strait until 1961. During that 26-year period, she suffered no less than 5 groundings and even a collision with a cargo ship in 1951. Neither the Kvinde Af Gud nor the cargo ship received critical damage. In 1961, the ship was sold to the American, New York & New England Fisheries of Long Island and underwent modifications such as being repowered to a diesel motor as well as being renamed to her second and final name, "Snowbird." On the morning of February 27th, 1963, the Snowbird sat in New Haven waiting to depart on what should have been a regular trip out around 25 miles to a fishing ground off New England. The ship was now commanded by 55-year-old Captain Donald Reed, along with 3 other crew members and 4 passengers. These passengers were the close family of Captain Reed, including his wife, Karla Reed, his mother, Darla Reed, as well as his 2 sons, Joseph and David Reed. The 3 other crewmen were also close friends of Captain Reed, even before he was captain of the Snowbird. Those being, 39-year-old Engineer Ichabod "Bob" Frankman, 27-year-old Deckhand & Fisherman Gaylord Stephenson, and 44-year-old Deckhand & Fisherman Marley Burd. At 9:59 AM, loading of the ship's bait, food, and freshwater was completed, and Captain Reed was given the go-ahead. So at 10:05 AM, the Snowbird would depart on what would be her final voyage. They would plan to sail from New Haven, out to a fishing ground in the North Atlantic, then up to Portland, and then back down to New Haven. The Snowbird was not equipped with a wireless radio; however, due to the business of the waters that the Snowbird sailed and fished in, it was assumed that if anything went wrong, help wouldn't be too far away, especially with flares aboard. At 12:58, the Snowbird was sighted by the T2 Tanker "Burlington" around 20 miles off the coast. The 2 ships exchanged words with signal lamps and friendly waves, and around 10 minutes later, the Burlington lost sight of the Snowbird as it steamed away from it. Later during the night on February 27th, a freak Nor'easter descended upon the coast of New England. It should be noted that this storm was reported by the NWS via radio on the 27th around 10 hours before it would start. The freak storm would last until March 3rd. On March 1st, the cargo ship "Oncor" stumbled across a crew member from another fishing boat called the "George Jervis," which had foundered sometime in the night on the 28th of February, 1963. After a search effort conducted by the USCG, as well as 3 civilian vessels, all 5 crew from the George Jervis were rescued from the water, 1 day later on March 2nd. However, that same day, the Snowbird failed to arrive in Portland and was listed as overdue. On the 4th after the storm had ended, there was still no sign of the vessel, and concern was growing. On March 5th, the alarm was rung when a man who had taken his daughter to the beach stumbled across a splintered and chipped nameboard. Whilst most of the board was broken off, the letters "OWBIR" were identifiable, and what would be one of New England's largest searches for a missing ship was launched. With around 15 ships, 5 from the USCG, one from the CCG, and the rest being civilian vessels, 6 aircraft, 3 planes and 3 helicopters, searched non stop for 10 days from March 5th to March 15th, however, the only things recovered were 2 life rings, splintered wood, another name board, a backpack, a life vest, the splintered top of a mast, and the frozen body of Joseph Reed, still strapped in a lifevest labeled "SNOWBIRD" was all that would be found for over 20 years. On March 15th, the search was called off, and on March 30th, Lloyds of London listed the Snowbird as Lost at Sea. However, on May 17th, 1983, over 20 years after the disappearance, a search for both the George Jervis and the Snowbird was launched. Using sonar, the wreck of the Jervis was found almost instantly on May 20th. But it wouldn't be until June 8th, when the search team discovered the smashed wooden hull of a ship lying upside down in around 820 Feet (249 Meters) that would be identified as the missing Snowbird. She had been found after 20 years underwater, 21 Miles off the coast of New England. Surveys of the wreck showed her hull was caved in, but there were no signs of foul play, and it's believed that the Snowbird was simply overwhelmed by the storm and was lost sometime on or around February 27, 1963. Due to the ship not having a wireless set, it's almost certain that Captain Reed was unaware of the storm before it hit him full force. A man who worked with Captain Reed on another vessel also said that if he knew what was coming for him, he would've never sailed. A memorial was erected on Long Island in 1993 to commemorate the 6 men and 2 women lost in the sinking. Most of the debris recovered is on display at the New Haven Maritime Museum, whilst the body of Joseph Reed was cremated. HOW TO MOVE There is a throttle lever in the ships wheelhouse labeled "Telegraph" PS. You don't have to play with infinite electricity for this ship to work however if you are in custom mode I do recommend it. HOW TO SINK There is a lockable button in the dining room / galley thing MISC This ship was based off a wooden model ship I own and I named "Snowbird" due to its white hull whilst the story of her sinking was inspired by what happened to the American fishing ship "Sno' Boy" PERSONS ONBOARD WHEN FOUNDERED Captain : Donald Reed 55 (Presumed Deceased) Deckhand / Fisherman : Marley Burd 44 (Presumed Deceased) Deckhand & Fisherman : Gaylord Stephenson 27 (Presumed Deceased) Engineer : Ichabod "Bob" Frankman 39 (Presumed Deceased) Passenger : Karla Reed 53 (Presumed Deceased) Passenger : Darla Reed 78 (Presumed Deceased) Passenger : David Reed 24 (Presumed Deceased) Passenger : Joseph Reed 24 (Deceased) MFV SNOWBIRD VARIANT https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3523066216 PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU FIND ANY ISSUES WITH THE SHIP AND I WILL TRY TO FIX THEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
