(WIP) Kara Class Cruiser | The Sea Power Collection

Introduction This build is a 1:3 scale of the Soviet Kara class guided missile cruiser. Kara is one of the ships included in the Sea Power Collection, which features military vessels from the 1960s to the 1990s, mainly those present in the popular naval combat game Sea Power. [hr] *Disclaimer* This build is currently Work In Progress, so it's in an incomplete state. The interior is very basic. That said, feedback on design and performance is very much welcome, so feel free to leave me your suggestions in the comments/threads! [hr] Description The Kara class, Soviet designation Project 1134B Berkut B ("golden eagle"), was a class of guided missile cruisers ("large anti-submarine warfare ship" in Soviet classification) built for the Soviet Navy between 1968 and 1976. NATO classified the type as cruisers mainly due to their size and the presence of the 'Metel' (SS-N-14 Silex) anti-ship missile system, capable of striking both submarines and surface vessels. The Kara-class cruisers were originally designed as an iteration on the Kresta II class. They were based on the same initial technical drawings, but were modified to include a gas turbine power plant, an enhanced anti-aircraft (AA) armament, and improved artillery systems. While based on the same hull as the Kresta class, the addition of various systems required a significant increase in size. The hull length increased by 12 metres (39 ft), and the beam by 0.6 metres (2.0 ft), allowing for the superstructure to be increased in volume. [hr] Performance (in game) - 2x Big Diesel engines (electrcity generators) - 2x Big Electric motors (connected to the driveshafts) - 2x Big Batteries (for extra range in case of engine malfunctions) - Operational speed: 10.75 knots (1/3 of the real top speed, in line with the scale) - Flank speed: 11.5 knots [hr] Weapons (non-functional) - 2 × quad Metel (SS-N-14 Silex) Anti-Ship Complex anti-submarine missiles - 2 × twin M-11 Shtorm surface-to-air missile launchers (80 missiles) - 2 x twin 9K33 Osa surface-to-air missile launchers (40 missiles) - 2 × twin 76 mm (3 in) AK-726 naval guns - 4 × 30 mm (1 in) AK-630 CIWS - 1 × RBU-6000 anti-submarine rocket launchers [hr] How to use - Head to the bridge through the entrances on the funnels of the vessel - Activate the engine (controls are located in the right wall of the bridge) - On the right side of the helm, select the desired power output, and the vessel should start moving straight away - Steer with the A/D keys - The reverser is right of the helm - The use of the helm monitor is recommended for better visibility (controls located right of the helm)
