小恶魔异种mod的总体思路是通过这一异种创造一种不同的游玩体验。小恶魔殖民者依靠顽强的生命力不太可能被感染，疾病，以及各种异常环境和生活琐事击垮，但她们糟糕的性格以及忽略玩家指令的特性要求玩家更好地安排工作日程及满足心情需求。小恶魔虽然能不依靠卧床休息恢复生命值，但她们更小的体型带来更少的生命值上限，并且因为懦弱而容易被击倒（虽然在CE及禁用倒地即死环境很可能在地上躺着回了回血又自己站起来跑了），因此玩家需要避免让小恶魔和敌人长期对枪。
另外，小恶魔原始种会以较低的概率生成在小恶魔派系中。这些变异个体独特的燃血基因能解除小恶魔异种的基因锁，让小恶魔能够使用各种强大的能力。如果有幸遇上了，务必提取燃血基因为你自己的小恶魔异种注入，让她们从贫弱的杂鱼化身为强大的战士。
