БТР-82А
The BTR-82A is an 8x8 wheeled armored personnel carrier designed to transport a motorized infantry squad onto the battlefield, provide fire support and conduct combat both independently and in conjunction with tanks. His key idea is a combination of high mobility, reasonable security and powerful weapons.
Key differences from its predecessor (BTR-70).
Major changes:
New power plant: One KamAZ-740.14-300 engines with 300 hp each (instead of one 300 hp). This gave a significant increase in power and survivability.
Single power unit: The engines, generators and cooling system are combined into a single quickly replaceable module, which simplifies maintenance and repair in the field.
Stabilized weapons: The most important visual and tactical difference.
Armament (main advantage)
BPPU Tower: A complex of a remotely controlled combat module. Cannon: 30mm 2A72 automatic cannon.
It has a double ammunition supply (high-explosive fragmentation and armor-piercing tracer shells). The rate of fire is from 330 to 400 rounds/min.
Effective range of fire at ground targets is up to 1000 m, at air targets (helicopters, UAVs).
Twin machine gun: 7.62mm PKM machine gun.
Stabilizer: The armament is mounted in a two-plane stabilizer, which allows for targeted fire on the move over rough terrain and effectively hitting mobile targets.
Crew and landing
Crew: 2 people (driver, gunner).
Amphibious squad: 10 fully equipped soldiers (Inside - 4, Outside - 6). They sit with their backs to each other along the sides. For firing, there are embrasures with ball installations and monitoring devices.
