SR-25 Puffin | Light SAR Helicopter

SR-25 Puffin [hr] Description The SR-25 Puffin is a light rescue helicopter designed to be quick, economical, and effective, and perform rescues in hard-to-reach areas where larger helicopters are not as effective. The Puffin delivers all of the useful features you want, like a full AP suite, map, and transponder locator, in a small and cost-effective package. If you like this helicopter, be sure to like and favorite it! [hr] Important Stats Cost: $18000 Fuel capacity: 3600L of Jet-A1 Maximum Cruising Speed: 175 knots [hr] Features Transponder Distance Calculator The distance computer takes ping frequency and outputs the estimated distance of a vehicle's transponder. You can see a visualization of this on the map screen; the vehicle with an active transponder will be located anywhere on the pink circle. As you fly towards it, the circle will get progressively smaller or larger. Full AP Suite (Waypoint Autopilot made by Tajin) The Puffin has four control switches that change the control mode of the helicopter. There is a waypoint autopilot, which points the helicopter towards the waypoint inputted on the keypad. Additonally, there is also an altitude hold which will maintain the helicopter's altitude at the height inputted on the small keypad. There are two more switches: cruise mode and hover mode. Cruise mode engages a hidden ducted fan, allowing the helicopter to cruise at high speeds comparable to fixed-wing aircraft. When using it, it is best to enable the altitude hold and autopilot for complete hands-free flying. Once you arrive at your destination, disengage cruise mode and the autopilot. Hover mode keeps your helicopter still in the air so you can comfortably disembark for rescue missions and return later. When in this mode, your WASD controls control the helicopter's movement speed in the forward and rightward directions. This is best for slowly approaching landing zones and flying the helicopter in a very controlled manner. If you prefer not to use any of these systems, the helicopter handles very nicely with them off. Rescue Equipment There is a rescue harness mounted on the side of the helicopter for lifting casualties into the helicopter. This can be controlled from the harness itself using the hotkeys, but also from the helicopter, and from an include remote controller which can raise and lower it when you are not near the helicopter. [hr] Startup Procedure The process to start the helicopter is very simple: 1. Enter cockpit and check that the electric circuit breaker is on, should be by default 2. Enable the Pump and Engine switches (by throttle lever) and throttle up to 0.85 3. Flip the Parking Brake switch to the on position to disable it (yellow indicator turns off) 4. Enable Hover Mode to make a controlled ascent out of the hangar and into the air. [hr] Notes -This aircraft has a lot of cockpit commonality with its larger cousin, the SR-35 Kittiwake, so once you get familiar with one aircraft, both are very easy to use. - Be sure to disable the AP and Cruise switches upon arriving at your waypoint so you don't overshoot your target. - "Z" and "C" switches on the map screen control its zoom and icon color respectively. There are buttons on the panel next to it to show/hide the transponder and waypoint visualizations. -If you have questions or feedback, please leave a comment!
