ONLY WORKS ON HIGH PHYSICS

"Libellule" (French for 'dragonfly') is a ~30ft gaff-rigged catboat, inspired by traditional 1970s American catboats and adapted for Stormworks. Typically easier to handle and more forgiving under sail, gaff-rigs are great for less-experienced sailors to practice their boat-handling skills. "Libellule" also features a custom bowsprit-jib, not conventionally found on catboats, for those who want to experiment with an extra sail and a bit more complexity than the standard single-sail gaff-rig.

Features:

Fully-functional gaff-rigged mainsail: hoist, lower and trim via mainsheet controls
Optional bowsprit-jib
Automatic ballast tank to keep the boat level under sail
Automatic bilge pumps for cabin and engine compartment
Functional anchor on foredeck
Cozy cabin with galley, seating, TV, bed, equipment, 2-way radio
Analong chart plotter with position logging

Safe operation up to 50% wind

Mainsail operation:

1. Instruments ON
2. Navigation Lights ON (Stern Light and Night Lights ON if operating at night)
3. Wait for ballast tank to fill before raising sails (important for keeping boat level under sail)
4. Enter helm and press SPACE to relax sail tension (SAILS WILL NOT WORK IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS)
5. Raise Main Sail ON
6. Control boom with mainsheet buttons for optimal wind angle

Jib operation: (OPTIONAL)

IMPORTANT: Using the jib is optional and not recommended until you get some practice with the boat as it can both only be used effectively when running downwind and in a wing-on-wing configuration (as seen in pictures). The clew also clips into the hull and gets stuck easily so it's your choice if you want to put up with the hassle of using it. Otherwise, just use the mainsail.

1. Turn the boat into a broad-reach angle so the jib will catch wind on the desired side
2. Bring Port/Starb. Jib In until you have tension in the line and the clew is on the side of the bowsprit you want to raise the sail
3. Release Jib ON, let opposite sheet out and bring desired sheet in
4. Trim for best wind angle
5. To change sides, I recommend letting both sheets out and lowering the sail all the way, bringing the clew back to the bowsprit, then repeating from step 1. Otherwise, you run very high chance of clipping the clew into the hull and getting it stuck.
