HISTORY / LORE
MV Port Fernandina was built in 1950 by Ashley & Co. for Sebastian & Co. out of Nassau, Florida. She was named after the Port of Fernandina on Amelia Island, Florida, and served from 1950 to 1987. From 1950 to 1957 she was captained by E J Cochcrane however, he took command of another ship in 1957 and was replaced by Captain Pete A Jackson, who captained her until 1987. Her career was fairly tame, and she never had any major incidents except for a grounding in 1959, and one of her engineers named "John" going missing in 1966. In 1987, she was finally retired and scrapped in Brazil.
