I was inspired by the Macedonian phalanx and their long pikes which they could use to strike from behind their own shield walls. It took a lot of work to get this working in a balanced state. So, I present to you, my pride and joy of many hours of work!
This mod adds a new class of weapon, the sarissa!

Compared to spears, sarissa pikes have a significantly extended reach - roughly three tiles - but deal a lot less damage. Their extended range allows them to be used from behind shield walls and other soldier formations.
For those playing with [b]Vanilla Factions Expanded - Medieval 2[/b], this mod also has some extra goodies.

Can this mod be safely added to an ongoing save?
Yes!
How do these new pikes differ from your Proper Polearms mod?
The sarissa has an extra tile of reach compared to other polearms. It makes up for this advantage with significantly reduced damage.
Can AI fighters use this extra range?
Yes! They can use pikes from a distance, just like how the player can.
Does this mod work with Combat Extended?
Yes! Make sure you load this mod *after* Combat Extended.
Does this mod *require* Combat Extended?
Nope! It works perfectly fine with vanilla combat, or with mods like Yayo's Combat as well.
