The H.M.S stock force was a Q-ship for the royal navy in WW1. A Q-ship is a cargo or merchant vessel which has concealed guns and is ment to trick the enemy to thinking that it is just another merchant vessel, not a war ship. On july 30th 1918 the ship was torpedoed by the UB-80, which caused her to be sunk but not before dealing major blows to the sub causing it to return to germany for the rest of the war. For his bravery the stock forces captain was awarded the victoria cross. (no lives lost in the sinking) In 1928 the ships story was told though a silent film.
