A mod to make cotton plants produce cotton bolls and devilstrand plants produce raw devilstrand, which can be woven into their respective cloths at a crafting spot or tailoring bench. Was supposed to be simple, but things got out of hand.
As much as I like VGP Garden Fabrics, I wasn't real happy with the high-level recipes and it's not compatible with Textiles+(Continued), which is my favourite fabrics mod. And so was born Cotton Balls.
Requires XML Extensions because I didn't want to make settings with C#.
What it do?
First things first: harvest cotton bolls (they're really called that) from cotton plants, and harvest raw devilstrand from devilstrand plants. Then weave them into cloth and devilstrand at a crafting spot or tailoring bench at a rate of 3 raw fabric to 1 fabric.

No new production buildings!
Here's where it started getting out of hand, though. Once you've got cotton bolls, you can add chemfuel to them to make raw synthread (once you've done some research), which can be woven into, you guessed it, synthread. (You can turn it off in options if you want)
Then I discovered you can just add anything you want in a mod, so you can also add chemfuel to raw devilstrand to make raw devilthread and weave that into devilthread, which is about as much stronger than devilstrand as synthread is stronger than regular cloth. (off by default, but you can turn it on in options if you want)
Stats for the fabrics I added can be found here: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/3452955789/600774150762550962/
Mod patches
Like I said, this was made instead of a patch for garden fabrics to work with Textiles+ (probably would have been easier to do that instead).
Textiles+
Harvest flax to make linen! Weave smokeleaves into hemp(which you could already do, yes)!
Weave together flax and cotton to make Fustian. Weave more cotton into denim. Weave even more cotton (and/or flax) into corduroy or (optionally) velvet.
Combine raw synthread with raw devilstrand to make kevlar. Combine cotton or flax with devilstrand to make sinstrand. Make hyperweave in the same way you always could with Textiles+ or, if you've got devilthread active, make it from raw synthread, raw devilthread, plasteel and silver.
Undergrounders: Deep Fabrics
Harvest cotton bolls or (optionally, if you've got Textiles+ as well) flax from caveflax. Harvest raw darkstrand from darkstrand. Make them into cloth and darkstrand as if they were normal plants!
You can also make darkthread if you want.
Even more time-consuming impressive: make synthread and kevlar with darkstrand (you need more than devilstrand because it's not as strong). You can even make deepstrand, the darkstrand equivalent of sinstrand, which is not as good as sinstrand but it's dark blue, which I like.
Plus, if you've got all the right options active, you can make hyperweave with raw darkthread, you need more because, again, darkstrand isn't as good as devilstrand.

You guessed it!
Jute
Integrated with my new mod Jute which adds a fabric plant for VPE More Plants that can be grown in the sand and water grow zones. Harvest Jute Stalks to process into Jute Fabric or (if you use the settings for the Jute Mod) straight into cloth. Can also be used to make raw synthread.

Harvest synthread plant into raw synthread and harvest hyperweave plant into raw hyperweave. Options for how much you get out of harvesting each one.
The part that was annoying for me: messed around with the options so that if you have the option for craftable synthread off you can still harvest and craft it from the plant. No option to turn the plants off obviously, you just unsubscribe from the mod for that.
It's (almost) all optional!
Mostly inspired by frozensnowfox tweaks, I made a very nice, nested, extensible options menu with XML Extensions with which you can turn off all of these more powerful cloths and recipes. And, if people hassle me about it enough, I will absolutely refuse to make all the other fabrics from Textiles+ optional, like you can just uninstall the mod if you don't want them.
Compatible?
It's compatible with all the random mods I have installed, so you're probably good. I strongly doubt it'll work with Garden Fabrics or expanded cloth production, which I'm pretty sure both do the same patch on cotton. Works fine with Vanilla Plants Expanded, so I expect it'd work fine with the rest of VGP.
If you find something it doesn't work with, let me know and I'll consider doing something about it.
Known Issue(s)
Apparently a thing with rocketman and XML Extensions, but sometimes you have to reload the game twice for changes to settings to take effect (or change your mod list).
Answers
Q. Why not make a normal settings menu?
A. Didn't want to. Don't like C#.
Q. What's the point of this when VGP garden fabrics and expanded cloth production exist?
A. It was supposed to be simpler... so um... it's made by me and not anyone more talented.
Q. Did you write this description and half-past-midnight?
A. Yes.
Q. Will you add more pictures at a later time?
A. Yes.
New Q: Did you work out why people usually take pictures of their recipes horizontally and not vertically?
A: Yes, I did.
Q: You gonna fix it?
A: Dunno. Gotta start a new colony first cause the last one got destroyed too many times.
CC4.0 international license the tldr of which is: use whatever as long as you credit me. Technically you can use it for financial gain, but that's a whole other issue because of all the assets this steals repurposes from base rimworld.

some of the textures don't really belong to me, since they're recolours or slight edits of other people's stuff, some of it does. don't worry about it
