Assignments Override

Ever tried to manually order a pawn to do something… only to be told: “Pawn is not assigned to this type of work.” Even though you clearly want them to just do it? This mod adds a simple, controlled way to override work restrictions for player-issued manual orders without breaking the pawn’s normal AI behavior. Features [list] [*] Adds a toggleable “Override Assignments” gizmo to player-controlled pawns. When enabled for a pawn, you can: [list] [*] Right-click things [*] Select prioritized work from the float menu [*] Force the pawn to perform that job even if it’s disabled in the Work tab. [/list] [*] Add an optional setting to make this a global behavior. When enabled: [list] [*] The pawn gizmo is hidden [*] All player pawns automatically have assignment override enabled [*] Manual orders always bypass work restrictions [*] Perfect if you prefer override behavior to be the default rather than managing it per pawn. [/list] [/list] FAQ - Does this change pawn AI, enable all jobs, modify work priorities, or permanently override the Work tab? No. This mod only affects manual player-issued prioritized orders. It does not: - Enable disabled work types automatically - Change work priorities in the Work tab - Modify pawn AI behavior - Make pawns autonomously perform restricted work Your colonists will continue to follow their normal work settings and AI behavior unless you explicitly order them to perform a restricted task. - Is it safe to add or remove mid-game? Yes, however when removing the mod, you may see red errors the first time you load the save without it. After saving again and reloading, those errors should disappear. Additional Lore / Why I made this mod A lot of times I have pawns on expeditions or gravship missions and I just want them to do a one-time job manually without permanently enabling a work type. Maybe it’s hauling something quickly, mining a single tile, or cleaning up one spot before moving on. Instead, I have to pause the game, open the Work tab, find the pawn, enable the required work type, close the tab, issue the order, and then later remember to disable it again. It’s not complicated, it’s just repetitive and disruptive, especially when you’re doing it frequently. After running into this situation over and over, it became frustrating enough that I decided to build a simple solution. This mod exists purely to remove that friction.
