+ Yes, it can save the maps, and even if the mods are missing, it will load the map removing anything that is missing from the game.

+ Yes, the saved maps will include the map pawns, you will be asked if you want to replace your current ones with the map's.
[b]- What happens if loading a map spawns things on top of existing pawns?[/b]
+ The game is smart enough to figure this out, it will move them to the nearest habitable spot if nothing goes terribly wrong.
[b]- What happens to structures like ancient dangers, mechanoid clusters or insect caves?[/b]
+ They still get carried over when saving/loading the map, and will work as expected when you use it.
