This mod adds Denisovans as a complement to Neanderthals. A Denisovan tribal faction is also included.
[i]Denisovans are an archaic population of hominids that split from a common ancestor with Neanderthals roughly 400,000 years ago. They were genetically compatible with both Neanderthals and modern human lineage with several periods of inbreeding inferred from historical genomics. After their disappearance they were absent for tens of thousands of years until scientists resurrected them from ancient DNA. In contrast to Neanderthals, Denisovans were better adapted for cold weather and high altitudes. Changes in fast-twitch muscle development gives rise to poor performance in melee combat but exceptional stability with ranged weapons. Their large brain size also makes them sensitive to psionics.
Denisovans now survive in sub-societies on some settled planets. On the rimworlds, Denisovan tribes carve out the same existence as their Earth ancestors did so long ago.[/i]
