At the onset of the Putigian war, the Intrepid-Class was the most numerous ship in the Adrian Separatist Navy. It had many issues, but when hostilities began it was the only widely available combat platform against the Hedrain Navy. It would eventually be replaced by the Adrian-Class Destroyer which was being developed at the beginning of the war. Despite its flaws, the Intrepids held the line until better ships showed up.
In total, 59 ships of the Intrepid-Class were built, but over half of them, 32, were sunk during the course of the war for control of Putiga.
