Psychic Coils - VRE Androids Add-On (1.6)

Information This is a reupload/fix of the original Psychic Coils mod ( [url=http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3271992592]steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3271992592[/url] ), which could no longer be updated by its author [url=http://steamcommunity.com/id/Negitive]Negitive[/url] due to their PC breaking (see original mod description) and was not updated to 1.6. I am not affiliated in any way with the original author (or the Vanilla Expanded team). Me adjusting and reuploading the mod is allowed by the terms of the CreativeCommons license under which the original (and this) mod is released. Most of the mod was done by the original author, I made the following changes: [list] [*] Add a 1.6 folder and update it to be compatible with RimWorld 1.6 and the updated Vanilla Expanded Framework [*] Fix compatibility with Vanilla Psycasts Expanded - Puppeteer, since some functions there changed with 1.6 [*] Make some patches more stable with respect to future changes [*] Add some options for the compatibility with VPE - Puppeteer, related to how androids are allowed to interact with the added psycasts [*] Add a total of 3 imperial android backstories, so androids can take psycasts from Vanilla Psycasts Expanded that are specific to imperials, with a percentage slider to force generation of these backstories. You probably want to keep the percentage rather low or at the default value of 0% (which will still generate the backstories as part of normal backstory generation), since they are in no way balanced and do not cover all skills. [*] Replace the preview image with one taken in-game, since technically VRE - Androids has no license that allows altering and redistributing its preview image. [*] Remove the Source/ folders from the Workshop upload, since source code is already on GitHub and they unnecessarily increase file size. [/list] The folder for 1.5 is unaltered, except for the removed Source/ directory in the Workshop upload. I wanted to use the original mod, it did not work, so I fixed it and now I am sharing this fix. While I will try to maintain the current compatibility when the game / mods update, there are no guarantees. If I don't have time, there will be no updates. However, as before, the license allows anyone to take the code, create their own version/fix and upload it to the workshop. Also, do not use this mod together with the original one. They have the same ID and will thus conflict. I am not currently aware of any bugs in the code, however, that does not mean that there are none. Feel free to report them as Github issue and I will try to fix them as my free time allows, unless they are caused by compatibility issues with unrelated mods (i.e. mods other than VRE - Androids) The following description is mostly taken from the original mod page, with slight alterations to remain accurate. [hr] Psychic Coils! Adds a new subroutine to the Vanilla Races Expanded Androids! This subroutine gives your androids Psychic Sensitivity and allows them to gain and use Psycasts! Psychic Robots? The "in lore" explanation for how this subroutine functions is as follows: Eltex coil windings are embedded within and around the androids CPU housing, this allows the android to manipulate (and be manipulated by) the archotech psychic field. However, as the coils are utilised to cast psychic abilities, they build up chaotic stress energies, which is slowly dissipated back into the field, but if the coils are supersaturated with this stress (Over neural heat limit), they begin to shed this energy in the form of heat, directly next to the CPU. This causes dramatically decreased efficiency and makes the androids RAM unstable, which causes an increased need for reformatting. [hr] These are mods made or linked by the original author. Most are outdated, but some also have fixes by other people, like this one. VAGUE - Core, adds a bunch of new subroutines to VREA androids, mostly based on Biotech existing genes!
