The Topper was built in Washington in 1938 for the pacific fleet as a fleet support ship. In 1939 right before the start of the second world war she was moved to pearl harbor and stayed there helping the fleet.Right before the attacks of pearl harbor she was sent back to the mainland for repairs after a training mission went wrong. After the repair she was sent back to help the fleet repair the fallen ships, and for 8 months she did this. When she was done she rejoined the fleet and helped with repairs. In 1945 her carrier group was attacked by kamikazes, 1 of the plane struck the ship she was right next to and the plane slid right off the ship and right into the topper. The topper, having some ammo stored in her, exploded the stern, sinking her in less than a minute, her crew of 3, 1 of them was off ship at the time, were all killed in the sinking.
