BR Class 40 Diesel Locomotive
This Diesel-Electric locomotive is loosely based on the British Rail Class 40 built by English Electric in the early sixties. The Loco has simple to operate controls opposed to being realistic to the prototype as this makes the loco easier to drive in the world of Stormworks.
Loco features

Simple Driving Controls

Multiple Working capabilities with other locos using the same control system

Simulated air brake system

Dynamic Engine Governor

Operation
Both cabs have identical driving controls:

Get into the cab and sit in the driver’s seat

If the engine is not running there is an Engine Start button in each cab on the rear bulkhead, with an additional local start in the engine room.

The masker Key control must be switched on, noting a green light in the control indication above the engine start/stop buttons. Note, if this is red then multiple cab master control keys are on; make sure that all other keys are off (including in other locos that have the multiple working cable connected.

Make sure the brake lever is all the way off and observing that the loco brakes dial is at 0% and the air train pipe is above 21.

You should be able to establish power by increasing the throttle lever
When switching ends turn the Master Key of and repeat the process in the other cab, Note that the brake can be left on because as soon as the Master Key is turned off the throttle and brake lever inputs are ignored.

Troubleshooting
Brakes won’t release:
o Not enough air pressure (see main air pressure gauge in centre front cab, if below 28psi then brakes will remain applied and the general fault light will illuminate showing low air pressure warning light on cab rear bulkhead):
Make sure engine in running
Make sure compressors isolating breaker is on (electrical cubicle in engine room)
Make sure both compressors individual breakers are on (In front of compressors in No2 end nose.
Main Air Reservoir blowdown is isolated (In No2 end nose below main tank)
o Brake apply/release valves are isolated:
Located in the No1 nose within the brake frame, both need to be open
o Engine of a towing engine is not running or cannot be run:
The brakes of the loco can be isolated manually, using the key switch next to the brake frame No1 end nose, this will release all brakes on the loco no matter what pressure the train pipe or main are reservoir are at. Be careful as there is no way of applying the brakes with this enabled.
No power can be established:
o Engine not running
Run out of fuel (general fault light illuminated with low fuel warning on bulkhead indicator)
Fuel feed pipe isolated, on side of engine
Main battery isolator or engine start breaker off, found in the electrical cubical in engine room
Engine Throttle Override lever not at 100%, next to manual engine throttle lever
o Low air pressure:
Main Air reservoir pressure below 28, power will not be able to established until this is over 28, seen on the gauge in the front centre of the cab
o Master Key not engaged:
If the Master key is not on all driving controls from that cab desk will be non-functional
If multiple control keys are active, then an audible warning bleeper will sound, and a red indication will be seen in the control indicator on the rear cab bulkhead. Turn off other master control keys, these could be on other locos that are connected with the multiple working cable
