The Type 25 'Constellation' Class Frigate is a proposed class of multi-mission surface combatants designed for future service in the Royal Navy. Conceived as a high-end, adaptable warship, the Type 25 is intended to operate as the principal escort for carrier strike groups and to conduct global independent maritime security operations.

Armament and Capabilities
The vessel's comprehensive armament suite ensures lethality across multiple domains:
Main Gun: A 127 mm (5 inch) main gun is fitted forward, providing precision naval gunfire support and an extended range capability for both land attack and anti-surface roles.
Air Defence: The primary air defense system utilizes a Vertical Launch System (VLS), typically dedicated to 16 MBDA Aster-15 surface-to-air missiles, providing robust short-to-medium range protection for the frigate and its surrounding assets. The design includes space for future addition of strike-length VLS cells.
Aviation: A substantial flight deck and hangar facility are designed to comfortably accommodate a large Merlin or Wildcat helicopter, alongside space for uncrewed aerial systems (UAS), significantly extending the ship's surveillance and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) reach.
