I've never been satisfied with the default Empire naming rules.
While "Shattered," "Exodus," "Refugee," and such are all accurate descriptions of the state of the Empire faction, I don't think they fit well as Imperial faction names. I don't see any faction that doesn't have the Guilty ideology meme as willingly naming themselves anything like "Broken" or "Fallen," much less the snooty Imperials, who can't have that meme. If anything, referring to the empire as names like those within earshot of Imperial loyalists sounds like a good way to have a bad time.
"Some pissant crashlanders think they can call us a broken empire? They must be deserter-sympathizers. Perhaps we should send a cataphract squadron or two to their hovel to teach them what it means to be 'broken.'"
Apart from the above, "The Empire" is just boring, and I don't think "The Empire of the Sun" or "the Moon" make much sense for cultures that have long since left Earth behind. Good ol' Sol, Terra, and Luna aren't at the center of any faction you'll bump into in Rimworld.
This mod changes the Empire's naming rules to get rid of the ignoble, color, and Earth-centric name types, while adding a few new name types to keep variety up.
Compatibility:
This mod has basically no chance of interfering with any mod that that doesn't also use "NamerFactionImperial" as a defname. The original "NamerFactionEmpire" section is left intact, this mod just points the Empire's factionNameMaker at my new code instead.
Q/A:
Q: Can I add this mod to an existing save?
A: Probably, but it's not going to do anything. The empire's name was set during your world's generation, and this mod doesn't do anything after that.
Q: Can I remove this mod from my save?
A: It's not a good idea to remove mods from saves in general, but this mod should be less risky than many. Back up the save file first, just in case?
