Biome Compatibility Project

Abstract: This mod automatically adds mod added content to mod added biomes, e.g. creatures, diseases, plant life, and so on. You might need to set representatives (-> in the mod settings) to biomes so they can be patched. Description: Adding biome mods, creature mods, disease mods and so on is a easy thing to do. But chances are that stuff from a certain mod does not appear in certain mod added biomes, even though it would fit. The reason is that there is probably no patch. Writing patches can be tedious and you can not expect mod authors to make patches for mods they are not even using. This is where this mod comes into play:

We assume that mod authors are adding their content to vanilla biomes where it is fitting
We then assign vanilla biomes (representatives) to each mod added biome (up to 3, in the mod settings)
Then the mod patches mod added stuff to mod added biomes by checking if the stuff is allowed in the representatives we set
The mod does not overwrite values (maybe 0/null) and the patching gets done late in the start up process, so other patches will not be overwritten
Biomes without representatives will not be patched
What should a first time user do?

Open the mod settings, decide which categories you want to be patched
Click "set representatives"

If you do not want a certain biome to be patched, remove its representatives
If there is no representatives for a biome you want to be patched, set them
Change the representatives of a certain biome if you think it would fit better
If you want to blacklist a certain biome/mod content combination, check the blacklists

If you made changes and want them to be applied in this session, restart the game
If you want to see what was patched and how long it took, open the log and check the log message
The following categories can be patched to mod added biomes:

mod added caravan animals
mod added caravan incidents
vanilla caravan incidents
mod added animals (includes polluted and coastal)
mod added diseases
mod added plants
mod added weathers
mod added fish
Please note that this is far from a perfect solution and is in no way meant to replace patches done "by hand". All the code is running while RW is starting, so there is no performance impact The increase in startup time is negligible, depending on the mods to patch expect a increase of 10ms to 100ms. Safe to add and remove from a ongoing save. If in doubt, load at the end of the mod list. Default settings (representatives) for the following biome mods are included:

Alpha Biomes
More Vanilla Biomes
Advanced Biomes
Biomes! Islands and Oasis
Realistic Planets
Realistic Planets 2
If you feel default settings for a biome can be improved or are missing for a certain biome mod, feel free to post in the discussion thread provieded. Else: Source of the mod is included. Credits and Thanks to: Ratzinger for beta testing and giving feedback. Marnador for the RimWorld font, used in the preview pictures. Tynan and Ludeon for RimWorld. Some of the textures/parts of the previews are modified versions of vanilla textures.
