S.S sam

The S.S sam was built in Philadelphia in 1910, when she entered service on the grand service line in 1911 she was used to transport timber from the great lakes to her home port, Philadelphia. In 1912 she struck rocks in the Hudson and grounded for 12 days until she was able to be taken off the rocks at high tide. 7 months later she was back in service after being towed and getting repairs on her hull. 3 years later in 1915 she was bought by the johnny company and was sold again just 1 month after to the northern transports and went the Boston to Savanna route. In 1917 she was rammed by the US destroyer paul johnny on its way to NYC for repairs after damages to the engines, she survived the ramming and was later sunk in another ramming incident only a year and 1/2 later in 1919 by another US destroyer, taking 7 out of the 10 on the ship down with her.
