Small daycruiser Rana 640

History Rana Plast AS was a Norwegian boat-building company based in Hemnesberget, in the Helgeland region. The company built a range of small and mid-size recreational boats, often known locally for their robustness and suitability for Nordic conditions. One of their models was the Rana 640, a cabin cruiser aimed at families looking for more space and comfort for cruising in Norway’s fjords and coastal waters. In reviews, the Rana 640 was described as “relatively new” (as of 2003) and praised for being “romslig” (spacious) and “trygghetsmessig sett” (in terms of safety) agreeable. Over time, however, Rana Plast AS encountered serious regulatory issues. After 2014, all models of Rana boats from that era (including the Rana 640) were subject to scrutiny by Sjøfartsdirektoratet (the Norwegian Maritime Directorate) for lacking CE-certification and sufficient documentation proving that they met basic safety standards—such as those for buoyancy, stability, structural strength, protection against fire, and protection against falling overboard. Eventually the company changed its name to Båtsalg AS, but the documentation issues persisted. In February 2020, Sjøfartsdirektoratet declared that models including the Rana 640 that had been put on the market after 2014 did not meet legal requirements, and there was a recall/withdrawal of those boats. The producer was unable to provide the technical documentation showing compliance. My model of the Rana 640 is 1:1 scale, the boat may be abit unstable and the reverser may not work. Ive tried to fix it but i can not find the flaw. I recommend using the "Better water" or "Better boat movement" mods when using this model. Startup: To crank her up you need to turn on the "Systems" then you are good to start the "Engine". THE ENGINE IS A TOGGLE BUTTON, DO NOT TURN THE ENGINE OFF AFTER STARTING! Make sure to close the door after you have entered the boat, as she may take in water due to the stormworks physics. i have made a bilge pump for her, but make sure to turn it of when there is no water in the hull. Otherwise you will take damage and die.
