454ss Challenge 6 - Gearhead - MHS3 Crane Car
Howdy all, here's my first crack at one of 454's build challenges. I hope you enjoy it!
This is a car that houses and acts as a control relay for a Unicon gantry crane, By using a remote controller, an operator is able to traverse the crane over the compatible flat cars and handle loading and unloading of any Unicon container that has rope anchors on top. In addition, there are couplers on the sides for RAT platform loaders.
Apart from Unicon, the car also makes use of 454's Universal Cargo System (UCS) and has room for one ISO container or one R10 compatible cargo. The compatible flat cars have room for two of each.
---OPERATOR'S NOTES---
> Use the control panel inside the shed to set the desired controller frequency and enable transmission to the crane.
> Controls are as follows:
-A/D traverses the crane along the cars.
-Hold the left or right arrow key for about a second to swing out the respective cantilever arm. Hold the same
direction again to retract the arm.
-W/S raises and lowers the left winches and up/down arrow keys do the same for the right winches.
>There are several ropes in the shed for cargo handling, alongside some equipment for dealing with mishaps.
>There are two safety holds, each indicated by red indicators. The indicators on the crane light when it is too close to
the shed to actuate its arms and the shed indicators light when cargo blocks the main door from opening.
>The crane may occasionally get stuck while entering or exiting the shed. It tends to occur when a session has been
open for awhile and can be resolved by saving and reloading that saved game.
>The crane has no safety to prevent it from rolling off the last car. You can re-rail it, though this will be difficult.
