Wall mounted solar panels
A simple mod I made for myself because I couldn't imagine powering my gravship with wooden furnaces and fuel generators. And having solar generators just standing outside on the substructure next to the hull was just as bad.
These solar panels can be attached to any wall. They can poke out of the gravships grav field no problem as long as the attached wall is inside. Now your ship can have realistic panels like RL satellites or the ISS.
There are 4 versions:
Tiny 1x1 that provides a max of 125W
Small 1x2 that gives a max of 250W
Large 1x4 that generates a max of 500W
Huge 3x4 that puts out a max of 1500W
Build costs are comparable with vanilla Solar Generators scaled with the size/strength of the panels. They might not seem very strong, but they can be placed all over the place and they add up. They are unlocked along the Solar Generator in the vanilla research tree.
The panels will cover up trees, shrubs, ground, even hills. But pawns will walk over them and items will sit on top. That's how the game layers its graphics so the important stuff is always displayed on top.
These panels were designed for a gravship, but they can be used anywhere. Some clipping might happen if they are placed over stuff they clearly shouldn't. They won't work under roofs. Crops will grow under them.
They can be used as a supplement to other power sources, or used on smaller outposts. Do you have a bunker with some turrets at the edge of the map? Put up some solar pannels and a battery and its gonna be self sufficient!
Be careful, your enemies might pull down and steal the smaller panels. This is valuable technlogy just hanging off the walls!
