Toronto Transit Commission Orion Ikarus III

Toronto’s First Articulated Bus!
The TTC first considered articulated buses in the mid 1980’s and settled on purchasing the Orion III from Ontario Bus Industries (later Orion). Delivered in 1987, these buses were a joint project of Ikarus of Hungary and Orion. Unfortunately these buses suffered from structural corrosion and by 1995 only 40 were left in service and were fully retired by 2003. They are also very similar to the Crown-Ikarus 286 and the body is based on the Ikarus 280. These buses were common on the 39E Finch east express and as such use that route sign. Setup
Start by entering at the front of the bus. The driver seat is the one straight ahead of the front entrance Start by activating the engine pumps and fans. Wait for 10 seconds for the fuel system to prime before starting the ignition.
