Mi-24 HIND [hr] OVERVIEW Originally posted by [b]Wikipedia[/b]: The Mil Mi-24 (Russian: Миль Ми-24; NATO reporting name: Hind) is a large helicopter gunship, attack helicopter and low-capacity troop transport with room for eight passengers.[3] It is produced by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and was introduced by the Soviet Air Force in 1972. As of 2025, the helicopter is in use with 52 countries. The Mi-24 in Stormworks is designed to facilitate both high-speed troop transport and attacks on infantry and armored vehicles at the same time. The plethora of weaponry available to you fills several niches in Stormworks PVP; use the rotating chin turret and rockets to easily pick off infantry and light vehicle threats, the laser-guided missiles to accurately hit targets from KMs away, and the fast-firing 23mm autocannon to shoot anything in between and deal out tons of damage. Additionally, this helicopter can be flown by one or two people, meaning that you can take a buddy with you and have them take over weapons or aircraft control. [hr] STARTUP [list] [*] Enter cockpit from left side of the helicopter [*] Turn on main battery breaker by floor, throttle up and switch on both engines [*] Enable hover and slowly fly out of the hangar. Once out, fly upwards and raise gear and brakes [*] Activate secondary weapons and turn on the gun sight by flipping the switches on the right side of the cockpit. [/list] [hr] WEAPONRY This helo has several useful weaponry features. To enable secondary weapons, activate the switches on the right side of the cockpit dashboard. Guns are always active by default, and you can switch between rockets and guided missiles for the secondary weapons. To use the ATGMs, you will first need to turn on the laser and designate a target. The laser is aimed by the mouse, and gunner gets priority when designating a target. Once you have found a target, you can either keep the laze on it manually, or if it is not moving, press '4' to lock the laser onto that point. When locked, the laser will compensate for movement of the helicopter and maintain a laze at that point even if you rotate or move (however moving a lot will make it wobble a bit), and you can view the point through the gunner viewing scope. Then, press 3 to launch a missile. The rockets, gun, and turret are otherwise pretty straightforward; do note that the gunner gets priority of the mouse-aimed turret when the helicopter has both crew. The gunner may also choose to slave the chin turret to WASD control instead, in which case the camera will follow the turret when it is within its FOV. [hr] NOTES [list] [*] The helicopter flies with HOTAS quite nicely, if you prefer to fly with that instead of keyboard, however if the gunner is using HOTAS they may encounter some difficulty with aiming the chin turret. [*] I have tested this quite a bit fighting the enemy AI. If you are using it for this purpose, I strongly recommend first taking out the AA tanks using the guided missiles, launching from about 2km away. Since they do not move, locking the laser onto the tank helps massively with aim and increases kill probability by a lot. Then, fire off bursts of rockets to pick off infantry AA from afar (they are extremely threatening in large numbers) and then use your guns to clean up the remaining few infantry and tanks as you get closer to capture the point. The chin turret is also very good at fighting enemy helos due to it being able to swivel. [*] The pilot has access to both regular binoculars and NVD binoculars in order to help with visibility at night. [*] The interior lights are not very bright; only bright enough to see the controls at night and no more, so that you can avoid being spotted from far away due to the bright lights emitted. [*] There are flak jackets in the crew area for the pilot and gunner so that you can take less damage when hit. The pilot has access to a medkit, welding torch, and fire extinguisher in the cockpit as well. [/list]
