Pigskin Vanilla race reworked ][ xenotype redalg
Overview
My idea was to add them some hog-like characteristics, and also to make them seem more like an engineered (imperfect) life stock.
[b]V2.0[/b] - Raid point price is increased to 1.8
Otherwise they are too strong. (If you think you know a better cost, write in the comments.)
Removed from the original:
[b] Reduced pain [/b] - This gene existed only to make them more dangerous as a foe. Real life pigs don't feel any less pain then us.
[b] Poor cooking [/b] - I'm sure this one was added just to show that you have to play them in a certain way, without cooking food. I don't want to play anything in a certain way. Also I can't see why pigskins wouldn't want to cook food.
I would give them passion to cooking without any skill bonus, if I could.
What was added:
[b] Fast wound healing [/b] - They were made to grow organs for harvest. I imagine this as an unfinished attempt to develop organ regrowth in them. Also as a life stock, their creators would want to 'teach them a lesson' sometimes. Long recovery wouldn't be good for prisoners in real life (I don't care that it's beneficial in this game)
[b] Psychically dull [/b] - Pigskins are merged dna from humans and pigs. So their brain probably would have a different structure to humans. So psy-technology that was developed for/against people wouldn't work that well on them. It would also harden connection between a psy-caster and an archotech.
[b] Very happy [/b] - Not literally. They should have lesser expectations then other xenotypes.
Also it might be literally, as an attempt to make them partially lobotomized.
[b] Cold tolerant [/b] - Pigs (their fat), makes them more reselient to cold.
[b] Heat weakness [/b] - Pigs have much less sweat glands in their skin. It's harder for them to cool.
[b] Aggressive [/b] - They are made to suffer. They definitely grow with vengeful ambitions. They are now feral in rimworld, and they definitely not so easy to control any longer.
[b] Sleepy [/b] - Pigs sleep more then humans. Also their engineering is not perfect, and evolutionary they shouldn't exist. They should take more time to rest and restore their mind and body.
[b] Robust [/b] - More fat, denser skin. Pigs bones are also much more resilient then ours.
[b] Unattractive [/b] - Even so they already have pig nose that reduces chance of romance with those who don't have it,
If they know how a human looks like, they would definitely consider themselves and their whole kin as uhly.
I even wanted to give them 'very unattractive', but it's probably would be game breaking in early game.
[b] Mild cell instablity [/b] - (This gene gives -4% to immunity, +300% cancer risk and lowers the age of elderly diseases.) Pigskins definitely aren't made to live long. Also this is a perfect way to show their imperfection.
[b] Unstoppable [/b] - They are bulkier then humans. Also if a pig rushes towards you, you can't stop it. Even the pig itself wouldn't be able to stop fast. (Maybe this gene doesn't suit to humanoid pigs in theory, but in practice,
We are playing a computer game.)
Trotter hands
- is the main reason they would struggle with fighting, building and other manual work. And this gene already alters their manipulation ability.
But their is one manipulation related work that I think should get a buff:
[b] Strong mining [/b] - Using a pickaxe and move rocks around doesn't require you to have perfect fingers.
[b] Strong animals [/b] - I always imagined cartoony pigs as farmers. Also they would have a soft spot towards animals more than likely. And animals might understand pigskins more then normal humans.
[b] poor medical [/b] - That's a crazy headcanon. I think there are just less knowledge in the world about how to give medical help with, trotter hands... It definitely requires more creativity and study for a pigskin kin.
[b] Poor social [/b] - They were born as a life stock.
If they were lucky, they were born in an established primitive tribe of escapees.
And still, they are an imperfect xenotype. Their brain would probably have troubles understanding how to socialize.
[b] poor intellectual [/b] - That's just a much lesser version of a radical 'slow study' gene. slow study suits them, but it would make them not interesting to play as, for most players.
[b] Alcohol resistant [/b] - Fattier people need more alcohol to get drunk. Not good enough explanation? Okey, this one is for fun.
This mod is a PATCH so it's compatible with everything.
Your opinion is highly appreciated, but keep in mind metabolism balance.
