The Republic F-84G Thunderjet was an improved, late-production version of the early U.S. jet fighter-bomber used in the Korean War. Introduced in 1951, it featured stronger wings, in-flight refueling capability, improved electronics, and the ability to carry nuclear weapons making it one of the first tactical jets designed with that mission in mind. Powered by an Allison J35 turbojet, the F-84G wasn’t highly maneuverable but was extremely stable, rugged, and accurate as a ground-attack aircraft.
