The USS Sterett is the ninth destroyer of the Benham Class, this battle hardened vet is ready to take on any array of missions you can throw at it!
Durable and strong, she can take whatever kind of punishment you can throw at her!
This brave vessel and her crew were awarded with the Presidential Unit Citation for the sinking of one battleship, one light cruiser, and one destroyer on the night of November 12th 1942 at Guadalcanal, and again on the night of August 6th 1943 at Vella Gulf, where she downed one destroyer and one cruiser.
She was also on the receiving end of a kamikaze attack off of Okinawa on the 9th of April 1945, but pulled through mostly unscathed, compared to other destroyers of the time who had been less fortunate.
If you're already familiar with my other work, the USS King, then you'll find this to be a huge improvement, with more features and a much more accurate interior,
however, there were no deck plans for this, so I don't have much to go off of.
Interiors are modeled after those of the USS Kidd instead, since it's the closest surviving relative that can be found today.
That being said, I hope you enjoy!
I also suggest that you turn the physics simulation down for this ship!

Startup Procedure
-------------------------------------------
Go to bridge and increase throttle to at least 19.500
Head to power plant and activate pump breakers
Proceed to engine room and increase clutch and activate pumps
Once all pumps are active, press and hold startup button on the throttleboard
There are three gears on the helm, one and two are slower but better for towing. Gear one also seems to save fuel a bit as well.
Gear three is a reverse gear. To reverse, keep speed and change gear, you should be able to keep sailing
If engine stalls, raise throttle and restart engines, that should do it.
Enjoy!
-------------------------------------------
Idling
-------------------------------------------
When stopping for an extended period of time, the idling generator in the ship's power plant will keep your ship powered up.
All you have to do is turn on the general electric breaker, activate the pumps, raise the throttle, and start that bad boy up.
There are two fuel tanks that can keep the generator running for a long, long time.
I have noted that after a certain amount of time, performance might degrade or it auto stops when the main engines are started, if that's the case, restarting the generator should solve it.
If it needs refueling, press the "Divert" button on the console and use one of the fuel canisters onboard to fuel it.
It must be noted that the generator can only be refueled from the starboard side fluid connector, just make sure you press the divert switch before fueling.

Side Notes
-------------------------------------------
I hadn't really planned to do this as I haven't really played the game in forever, I figured I'd leave the King as my "magnum opus" and back in the
days that I was working on her, I was going through other ships as well, mainly through the Farragut class, and thought they were pretty neat. I somewhat
toyed with the idea but ultimately shelved it. It wasn't until user Trash Boy asked about it that I seriously considered it, even though I told him I wasn't planning
on it. I figured I'd try it and see how far I got, turns out I got pretty far. My references were the USS Kidd on this one, since there were no deck plans for the
Farragut or Benham classes. Trash Boy, this one's for you!
