DESCRIPTION
The Hamilton Class Large Ro-Ro were originally a class of large container vessel built for civilian use. Built as modern container ships by the Oured Shipbuilding Company, they were converted into Ro-Ro's by the Usean Navy to supplement long distance supply chains by having more than twice the cargo capacity of the Cape Class.
The Hamilton Class features a large stern ramp, and two wing ramps on the port and starboard sides and and internal vehicle elevator. This configuration allows for rapid loading and unloading of vehicle cargo. In addition to the vehicle hold, space for 4 20ft ISO containers is forward of the large flight deck.
UNS Allen C. Hamiltion (AKR-250) and Deanna McOnie (AKR-251) rotate between the Meier Isles carrying most of the resupplies for forward deployed units.
Power and propulsion comes from 4 Kharstrom KO-I-5I300/A driving a hybrid diesel drive providing 25,000 SHP and a top speed of 19 knots.
[b] HOW TO USE [/b]
- Flip all the breakers on the bridge for power
- Turn on ignition so start the engines
- Ship handles somewhat realistically, so it actually takes time to go astern from ahead and vice versa, so plan ahead...
[b] HOW TO USE RAMPS/VEHICLE LOADING [/b]
- Stern Ramp controls are found aft of the main superstructure just forward of the lifeboats
- Stern Ramp can rotate 45 degrees
- Press Lower/Raise Stern Ramp
- Use the keypad to set ramp height (normally ~12-13) depending on the height of the pier
- Port and Starboard side ramps are controlled from the two blister stations on either side, use for small trucks only
- Load heavier vehicles towards the middle.
