The M/V Yera began construction in mid 1948 and was completed in the early months of 1954, she was built for relatively short distance travel, she would go between Goodwick and Rosslare harbour, she would make this trip for around 11 years before being bought by a Dutch man at auction selling for €153,250 in Wexford Where she was put under miner restoration to be used as a private transport boat whilst maintaining her original name.
After continuing to run for another 32 years or a total of 49 years she eventually sold for €4,460 for scraps after her engines had a catastrophic failure and it was deemed unrealistic to conduct any repairs.
