MV Amalia - Starter Trawler
LABORATORIO AERONAVALE del MONTE di BRIANZA
Overview
Lore
The "Amalia" is a coastal trawler designed to operate in the shallows of the Mediterranean, built with cost in mind. During the 70s, many youths were discouraged from taking the helm and becoming fishermen by the raising cost of fuel,
which the class of light trawlers seeked to tackle.
The class design features a very low freeboard, a sizeable cargo hold, an open cockpit with rain protection, a single diesel engine, a rudimentary autopilot, and allows for single-person operations.
In game
"Amalia" is intended for fishing-focused Career (not Classic), and has the size and cost to make it viable as a starter. It was developed by painfully shaving features from the original project, the 2-engined "Carmen", from which almost 4,000$ were taken. "Carmen" may be released sometime in the future.
You can pace along the coastline at something more than 10 kts, collect and sell fish until, in a couple of fishing trips or little more, you can affors something with a real autopilot.
Use it if you have no sense of urgency. Engine will not overheat in operation.
