Danish Minesweeper "MS 1" 1941
MS 1 was a real Danish minesweeper
History
Built in 1941 in occupied Denmark for the Danish navy she served her job clearing mines until august 29th 1943 when the Germans launched Operation safari, A operation to disarm the Danish navy, Vice-admiral Aage H. Vedel ordered to make a run for Sweden, or scuttle. At this time MS 1 was in Skælskør due to rough weather, The Danish police warned MS1 of the german operation and MS1 made a Dash to Agersø, where the crew of MS1 was able to secure alot of Tar. The crew of MS 1 Removed the mast and a few other features of MS1, and painted her black in Tar, Camoflauging her as the Tugboat "Sorte Shara", The following night MS 1 sailed to Hesnæs, Where from there she continued onto Sweden. where she arrived at Trelleborg the following morning, During the war she helped the Danish Flotilla in Sweden. In 1951 Sorte Shara was made her offical name. in 1956 The Danish navy decided to sell two of the MS class boats, The first, and the last, MS 1, and MS 10, Sorte shara became a passenger vessel for Sundfarten, in 1959 a German company bought her to sail between Denmark and Germany and she was renamed Flensburg, She was later sold and became a Fishing boat. and got the name Orion I, on the 24th of feburary 1975, in fog Orion I was Sailed down by the Tanker Texaco Ohio, Everybody omboard was saved. Orion I was presumably salvaged and scrapped afterward.

In 1961 a Danish film titled "Sorte Shara - Alarm i Østersøen" was released featuring Ove sprogoe, Ebbe langberg, carl ottosen and more, It is a slightly over dramatized version of the real events

Along side MS 1, The MS 7, and MS 9 also escaped to sweden, The rest were scuttled/captured, The scuttled ships Refloated . MS 4 was eventually recovered and scrapped. She was too damaged. Execpt MS 4 the rest of the class went on to serve for many decades more, Some boats being retired as late as 2004 with Hjemmeværnet, MS 2 Askø and 2 more boats are still around to this day, You can visit MS 2 at Langelands fortet. Alot of my interior sources came from the 1961 Movie, and from my visit to the actual MS 2, MS 2 was also used in the 1961 movie.
