BPMP 64A
History
BPMP-64 Armoured Personnel Carrier
Introduced in 1958, the BPMP-64 served as the Soviet Union’s primary wheeled troop carrier during the Continuation War and well into the 1980s. It was a fully enclosed 8x8 vehicle designed for rapid infantry deployment, featuring a sealed hull, amphibious capabilities, and a compact turret mounting a 14.7mm KMPV heavy machine gun.
The BPMP-64 provided basic protection from small arms and shrapnel, allowing mechanized infantry to operate more flexibly across Asia’s varied terrain. Although lightly armoured, its mobility and reliability made it a popular choice across Soviet-aligned states.
Crewed by a driver, gunner, and commander, it could carry up to 9 infantry in the rear compartment. However, poor ergonomics and a lack of a rear ramp often delayed rapid deployment. Despite its flaws, the BPMP-64 remained in use for decades due to its ease of maintenance and wide parts availability.

About the Project
The Pacific Front is a Alternate History Project about the time from 1940s through to the 70s in a time of turmoil, war and desperation. It focuses on the countries around the pacific ocean, like the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Russia, China and a lot more. All the the project vehicles are fictional in nature and have their own story, lore and design. The Projects creations have a tendency for high fidelity, decoration and multi crew operation.
