Before everything, a rant
The weapon aptitude system from VRE - Hussars is absolutely bonkers. It generates a unique aptitude gene [i]for every weapon you have loaded.[/i] This makes it more or less impossible to actively seek an aptitude gene for a specific weapon, the gene just eats into a pawn's metabolism cost 99% of the time.
[b]Hussar Weapon Aptitude Remake[/b] tries to solve this by having aptitude genes for certain classes, but completely drops the ball by having some aptitude genes be straight up better than others. For the same 3 metabolism cost, you could either have an aptitude with blunt melee weapons... or all melee weapons/all ranged weapons in general. The bonuses, metabolism costs, etc. are all the same. That's not even getting into how the archite variant can just randomly spawn in place of normal aptitude genes as well, kinda defeats the whole point if 1/4ths of all hussars are just great at using all weapons.
I wanted to patch that mod... until I realized that mod also uses code to generate the aptitude genes. The genes themselves, their attributes, etc. were effectively hard-coded. Nothing I could patch with XML.
So I made this mod.
A brief list of features
This mod has two genes, ranged weapon aptitude and melee weapon aptitude. Like the base mod, hussars will have a 50/50 chance of using either of these genes.
That's it. No weapon-specific aptitudes, no anything. Just two genes that make a pawn better at a style of combat.
